How to choose bathroom tiles in Morocco
Technical, aesthetic and budget criteria for a premium bathroom suited to the Moroccan climate. From large format to contemporary zellige.

Why is the choice of tiles so critical in a bathroom?
The bathroom is the most demanding room in the home: constant humidity, swings in temperature, contact with soap and limescale, a floor walked on barefoot.
A poor choice of tiles shows in less than two years.
The three families to consider
Three materials cover most premium bathrooms. Each has its own rules.
Technical porcelain
Rectified porcelain, 9 to 12 mm thick, is the most versatile solution. Water absorption below 0.5%, a PEI IV rating for floors, and R10 as the recommended minimum for the shower area.
Marble
Marble brings timeless prestige, but calls for a water-repellent treatment and attentive care. Avoid acidic products. Over time, its natural patina becomes part of its beauty.
Zellige
Handmade zellige from Fez is exceptional as wall cladding, around a basin and in the hammam. Its surface shimmers in the light, like water. It is laid with a tight joint of 1 to 3 mm.
Which format?
For a contemporary, minimalist look: large formats, 60×120 or 80×180. Fewer joints, easier upkeep, a sense of space.
For a handcrafted look: 10×10 zellige or 5×15 bejmat laid in a chevron pattern.
Slip resistance, a must
For a walk-in shower, R11 at least. For the rest of the floor, R10. At the showroom, we tell you the rating of every reference.
In a walk-in shower, the tray slopes 1 to 1.5% towards a channel drain or a trap. Carrying the floor's laying plan over the tray gives a continuous look.
Indicative budget
Allow 600 to 1,200 MAD/m² for premium porcelain and 1,200 to 2,500 MAD/m² for marble. For zellige, the price depends on the finish: it is handmade, and so more variable.
These ranges are indicative: the quote, which is free, gives the exact figure for your bathroom.
Conclusion
The right bathroom tiles balance the technical side (slip resistance, absorption), the look (format, finish, colour) and the budget.
