01 — Technical properties

Technical data for zellige.

Glazed, zellige stands up to water very well: we lay it in showers, as splashbacks, on walls and on fountains. Its slightly irregular surface catches the light; that look is a characteristic, not a flaw.

Beyond the traditional 10×10 cm, the longer bejmat is laid straight or in a chevron pattern. It suits contemporary kitchens and bathrooms.

03 — Frequently asked questions

About zellige.

How is traditional zellige laid?
With a very tight joint (1 mm) or a tight joint (3 mm), depending on the look you want. On a floor, the substrate must be perfectly level. On a wall, the joints become invisible.
Is zellige fragile?
Every piece is unique, with tiny irregularities that give it its charm. Zellige resists moisture and steam (hammam). Simply protect it from hard knocks.
What are the delivery times for zellige?
Standard zellige is in stock: allow 1 to 2 weeks. Bespoke zellige (special colours, patterns) takes 6 to 8 weeks from Fez.
